My Giving Story is about the students and teachers working together to make an impact.

My Giving Story is about the students and teachers working together to make an impact. It’s about my journey that led me to learn about the inequities of our education system and taking action to support teachers and students at underserved schools. The moving documentary, Waiting for “Superman”, uncovers how American education has declined by following the struggles and tension in the lives of students living in places like the Bronx. It appalled me how unfair the education system is and how this lack of fundamental education was prohibiting the growth of the students.

My Giving Story is about learning how I can be a leader in my community and how leadership is about bringing people together and motivating them to make a change. The Leaders Readers Network has helped inspire me to become a valuable leader in my school community. A community is a group of people connected by a certain aspect of life such as school, work or hobbies. With the help of this network, I am a leader who can bring people I know from different parts of my life into one community. It has pushed me to be more outgoing and willing to put myself out there for the benefit of others and to unite my community.

My Giving Story is about saying yes to helping provide brand new books to students in the Bronx. It is about families and children who are in need of our support so they can unlock a love for reading. It’s about feeling a sense of responsibility to help make a direct impact in the communities around me that need us to join forces for good. It’s about realizing 10 miles away from my own home and school there are children who are dealing with life situations that I might not understand. It’s about realizing that my actions can help change a life.

My Giving Story is about dedication to developing my leadership while making an impact with The Leaders Readers Network. It’s about the books that had a huge impact on my life. I enjoy embracing my creative mind through painting and writing. Reading books throughout my childhood has nurtured this creativity that makes me who I am today. Reading has taught me life lessons, connected me with different people, made me more understanding, and opened my mind to new possibilities. Books are still bringing new knowledge and excitement into my life even now. Reading has shaped who I am today. I am inspired to give books because I believe no child should go without these experiences books bring. However, I know that nothing ever gets done alone. My giving story is about inspiring more students in my community to join my efforts because together we can have a greater impact. I am dedicated to this organization because I know the huge impact books have had on my life and the important education it brings. I have so much respect for the leaders in this non profit who have rallied and gathered so many books and given so much back. It seems daunting to organize alongside people who are so amazing. But I know that every dollar and every book counts.

My Giving Story is about activating the passion I have for this cause in others around me. It’s about bringing my community together to get involved in supporting the students in the Bronx. A lot of my Giving story so far involves organizing and communicating. It is such an important factor of spreading kindness and sharing my passion for education. I am bringing my community closer to help in an amazing cause. By involving my local library, town, friends, family, and school communities, I am spreading the chance for kindness.

My Giving story is about the happiness and inspiration that will come with giving books to the students and supporting teachers amidst a global pandemic. It’s about connecting with one another, and these connections showing how communities care for each other. It’s about building a better education system for all students. I want to share this connection between my community and the Bronx community which is so close yet so far. I hope to bridge this gap even a little bit closer into a loving community willing to share and give to provide better education for all children.

My Giving Story is not possible without the support and mentorship from The Leaders Readers Network. The time spent with this network is invaluable, and I am grateful for my mentor Darin Iraj and the founder, Chris McGilvery. My Giving Story is about young people receiving encouragement from leaders which has encouraged me to embark on my own journey to grow leaders and readers.

I am forever grateful, and I think that is one part that makes this organization so special: the community it creates to help others give back.
