Pennies for Literacy Campaign

Financial Literacy and Give Back Program

Pennies for Literacy is a Financial Literacy and Give Back Project developed by The Leaders Readers Network to activate classrooms and entire schools to learn about the importance of saving money and making a difference. Students learn about the literacy issues locally and globally. After learning about the importance of reading and saving money, students work with their classrooms and entire school to save and collect change to provide books to kids at underserved schools. Students work together to create posters, collect change, and update their school community with goal updates. All change saved go towards brand new books for kids at a local Title 1 School. Top 3 classrooms and individuals who save the most change receive a new collection of books and prizes. Students learn about goal setting, saving money and giving back while sharing a love for reading.
