San Antonio Fiesta Literacy Awards
Honoring the Educators Who Shape the Future
The San Antonio Fiesta Literacy Awards celebrate educators who positively impact their classrooms, schools, and communities. Educators deserve recognition for their overflowing hearts. They teach our children more than curriculum; they teach self-confidence, kindness, love for one another, compassion, and how to change the world.
Award Categories
Educators can be nominated in one of seven categories:
The Fiesta Future Educator Award
This award will go to a high school or college student interested in pursuing a career in education. Nominees must volunteer with The Leaders Readers Network or another charitable organization that supports children in San Antonio and demonstrate a positive impact in a teacher's classroom.
The Piñata Spark First Year Teacher Award
This award will go to a first-year educator who has demonstrated a love for teaching and reading with their students and community, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the classroom.
The Mariposa Literacy Award
This award will go to a teacher dedicated to instilling a passion for reading and literature among their students. Nominees must be current English teachers.
The Legacy of Learning Award
This award will go to a veteran educator with at least 15 years of classroom experience. Nominees should show how their teaching has made a lasting impact on generations of students.
The Marigold Mentor Award
This award will be presented to a retired educator who continues to mentor and coach educators in the community. Nominees must be retired educators, including teachers, librarians, campus support professionals, and school leaders. They should demonstrate a commitment to advocating for public education and fostering community among educators.
The San Antonio Fiesta Literacy Award
Honoring a retired public school educator who has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to literacy and education.
The Cascarón Literacy Champion Award
This award will be presented to an educator committed to a lifetime of service and ongoing support.
How to Nominate an Educator
Complete the Online Nomination Form
Provide your contact information.
Include the nominee’s name, school, and award category.
Write a Short Essay (300-500 words)
Describe how the nominee exemplifies the values of the award category.
Share specific examples of their impact on students, literacy, and education.
Submit Supporting Materials (Optional but Encouraged)
Letters of support from students, parents, principal or colleagues.
Photos or videos showcasing the nominee’s work.
