Our Process

How we work with our Partners to ensure that appropriate books reach the hands of children

We are here for the children.

Everything we do at The Leaders Readers Network is built on our values of collaboration, equity, and integrity. The heart of our work is to distribute appropriate books and learning materials to children, and to help them to read better, imagine more, and grow into leaders who make informed decisions.

We hope to create a better future for them.

OUR MISSION:

Build a national network of leaders who provide books, supplies, and projects to support early literacy in underfunded schools.

OUR VISION:

Empower teachers, student leaders, and parents to become lifelong advocates for equal access to education.

OUR PURPOSE:

Provide students with diverse, culturally relevant books that represent their culture, interests, strengths, and creativity to grow a love of reading and learning, helping them become avid readers and positive leaders.

STEP 1:

Each book we hand to a child has been vetted extensively by its publishing house and the editors and staff there.

STEP 2:

Social enterprises that obtain the books at low cost to sell to educators or other nonprofits also have their own approval and selection process.

STEP 3:

The Leaders Readers Network’s team of seasoned professionals includes retired and current educators with hundreds of years of combined total experience. This group reviews the authors, reads the books, looks at the pictures, and selects appropriate books.

STEP 4:

We work closely with district leaders, elementary superintendents, literacy directors, curriculum specialists, and more to curate and select appropriate books.

STEP 5:

When an educator wants to join the TLRN Literacy Fellowship, they must apply and have their campus leader approve by signing a campus approval form.

STEP 6:

Teachers/educators and campus leaders collaborate to choose the best age and subject appropriate books for their classroom and their students.

STEP 7:

Books are ordered by TLRN based on the selection and shipped to the school. Educators have one more opportunity to open the book, review it further, ask questions, or share with the principal as necessary.

STEP 8:

Children go home with books that inspire them to keep reading!
