From 2020 through 2024, The Leaders Readers Network expanded from serving a single school—Walter Long Elementary—to supporting seven additional elementary schools across Clark County School District, partnering with over 300 teachers, and distributing more than 13,500 books to students. Each book giveaway included words of encouragement stickers written by middle and high school student volunteers, adding a meaningful peer-to-peer connection to every gift. Together, these efforts reached over 13,000 students and represented over a quarter million dollars invested in books for children.

What began in 2020 as an act of kindness —sharing words of encouragement and raising funds for new books—has grown into a strong district partnership. This growth has led to districtwide book giveaways with Clark County School District in celebration of World Read Aloud Day 2026 and Nevada Reading Week 2026. With 81% of CCSD students identified as economically disadvantaged, the need to dramatically expand access to books and literacy support remains urgent.

During the 2025–2026 school year, the Leaders Readers Network significantly increased the number of schools served, volunteers engaged, and books distributed, marking continued long-term growth. As of this school year, the organization has expanded from supporting 8 schools at its start to now serving 21 schools across Clark County School District. This increased our impact at 21 schools. Through a strong partnership with CCSD, the dedication of volunteers, and the generous support of donors, The Leaders Readers Network is strengthening early literacy across Las Vegas so educators and classrooms have the resources needed to help students develop foundational literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading.

This year alone, The Leaders Readers Network aims to impact more than 18,000 students, yet current funding has only made it possible to provide 5,662 children with books they can take home, read, and keep—highlighting a critical and urgent need for additional support. Our goal is to raise $100,000 by 2027 to continue grow literacy support for students across Las Vegas.

Join us in changing the trajectory of thousands of young lives by investing in early literacy across Las Vegas. Your donation helps provide critical support for Clark County School District’s youngest learners in Pre-K through third grade, ensuring they have the resources needed to build strong foundational literacy skills. With a long-term goal of helping all third-grade students read at grade level or beyond, increased community investment is essential to close the literacy gap and create lasting impact.
