Meet our 2022-2023 Student Executive Board
Ria Voodi Co-President
Ria Voodi (she/her) is a junior at El Camino Real Charter High School in Los Angeles. She is extremely passionate about bridging the literacy gap and helping students in underserved communities get access to the necessary resources they need to succeed - both inside and outside the classroom. She believes education is a stepping stone towards a better, stronger future. Serving as National Outreach Director last year and Co-President this year, Ria is excited to continue to work with the LRN network and continue to fight for educational equity. Outside of LRN, she loves to play tennis, code, listen to music, get involved in politics, and spend time with her friends and family.
Jackie Park Vice President of Marketing
Jaekyung “Jackie” Park is a rising senior at a high school in upstate South Carolina. She enjoys acting, doing calligraphy, reading, and playing lacrosse. Jackie has been doing theatre for 9 years and is passionate about telling stories and making sure each story is heard. She loves getting involved at school with clubs such as Students for Change, Model UN, and Student Council. She is beyond excited to be making an impact in her community and meeting new people! Thank you to everyone interested in this amazing organization!
Olivia Yin Co-President
Olivia Yin is a senior at Irvington High School in Westchester, New York. Her passion for her volunteering at the Leaders Readers Network stemmed from her love of reading and literature as a child. The creativity and adventurous spirit that books gave her are what she wants for all children across the country. From conducting fundraisers for brand new books to hosting community-wide Book-drives, the books raised will provide more opportunities and education for students in underfunded schools in the Bronx. Outside of the LRN, Olivia fuels her creativity through painting and visual art. She is the President of her class and the captain of the Fencing team. As the Co-President of the 2022-2023 LRN E-Board, Olivia is excited to be working with passionate and caring students and hopes to bring more opportunities for inspiration and discovery through literacy to deserving students.
Tanvi Sure Vice President of Training
Tanvi Sure is a junior at Taft Charter High School in Los Angeles, California. She has a strong passion for literacy and service and is excited to work with the Leaders Readers Network to advocate for educational equity for undeserved students. Outside of LRN, she enjoys reading, volunteering, and playing sports. She is part of her school's debate and robotics teams as well as many other clubs at school. She looks forward to learning new skills at LRN that will help her positively impact her community and build her leadership skills.
Tami Alli Vice President of Operations
Tami Alli is a rising senior at Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has a passion for ensuring all children have access to diverse literacy and quality education. In 2020, Tami started her own literacy initiative called The Tsundoku Project which aims to combat the literacy gap present in the Metro-Charlotte area. She also was an LRN student ambassador this past year. Outside of LRN Tami plays competitive tennis, serves on boards for The Red Cross and Global Online Academy, and is dedicated to raising awareness for humanitarian and social justice issues. She is so grateful to be a part of LRN and continue to make an impact in her community and beyond.
Diya Doshi Vice President of Training
Diya Doshi is a junior at John P. Stevens High school in Edson, New Jersey. She loves taking on issues head-on, displaying her love for her community, and wanting to make a difference. Her love for reading drives her passion for encouraging literacy for all students, which she believes is a stepping stone to help students learn more and expand their imaginations. She has served as a 21-22 LRN Student Ambassador and will now be fulfilling the position of 22-23 VP of Training. Outside of LRN, Diya loves to paint, draw, and read. At school, Diya participates in humanitarian clubs such as Interact and Key Club. She is thrilled to be a part of LRN, embracing the new opportunity it has given her to expand literacy to many more students.
Meet our 2022-23 Student Ambassadors
Central Region
Delaney Bicknell
Delaney Bicknell is a senior at Amarillo High School in Amarillo, Texas. She is passionate about literacy because she believes in the opportunities reading can create. Her love of reading has gone back as far as she can remember; even as a small child she loved stories. Since then, her love of service has given her the chance to help her community through Snack Pak 4 Kids, Amarillo Brown Bag Runs, and other organizations. Outside of TLRN, Delaney does speech and debate. She also served on her Latin Club Executive Council as secretary and president. Delaney plays viola and has done so since the sixth grade. She is excited to expand her leadership skills and serve the Panhandle community and the nation through The Leaders Readers Network.
Arielle Iacovacci
Arielle Iacovacci is a senior at Prestonwood Christian Academy in Texas. She is motivated to advocate for the underrepresented, including encouraging a proper education in underprivileged communities. She has had the privilege of conducting a drive for period products and undergarments for women in need in her community to combat period poverty as well as interning at a school for disabled children near her. In addition, she has interned with a candidate for the School Board of Education of Texas and is involved in local politics. She will serve as 2022-2023 President of the National Honors Society and is a member of several academic clubs including Future Problem Solvers, Lion Scholar Program, and Student Leadership Institute. She is excited to expand her knowledge of fundraising and advocacy through the Leaders Readers Network.
Seohyeon Lee
Seohyeon Lee is a rising junior at the Brook Hill School in Bullard, Texas. She has a strong and enduring passion for encouraging literacy for all because she was moved and deeply sympathized with Kofi Annan's words, "Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope." Her passion for community service began in 10th grade when she volunteered to translate letters to children and supporters in underdeveloped countries. Since then, she has conducted child support, participated in a variety of voluntary community service projects, and even founded a service club to realize compassionate leadership based on compassion and action. She has served as 2022 Nyamboyo Technical School Teen Social Media Ambassador, 2022 Rose City Ambassador, and National Honor Society member. She is a cellist in the school orchestra, actively involved in local service projects, and making efforts to experience compassionate leadership by participating in such as HOBY State Leadership Seminar as a school representative in June, and HOBY World Leadership Congress in July 2022. She is excited to expand her leadership experiences and serve those in need in the local community as well as the nation through 22-23 The Leaders Readers Network Student Ambassador.
Emerie Crowder
Emerie Crowder is a freshman at Canyon High School in Canyon, Tx. She plays the flute in the school marching band and enjoys all types of art mediums. She has always had a passion for learning and reading about black history. However, from an early age, she began to notice that there was a lack of diversity in the books at her school as well as find to provide new materials. She has a deep desire to do something more to help provide different experiences and opportunities so that every child can recognize themselves in a book regardless of where they come from. She is excited to be part of a Network that is providing brighter futures through imagination! "Books build a stairway to your imagination".
Precious Johnson
Precious is a senior at Palo Duro High school located in Amarillo. She has a strong passion for helping those around her. She enjoys reading, playing sports and playing the double bass. She’s volunteered at Colorful Closets, High Plains Food Bank, Snack Pack 4 Kids, and United Way. She has been part of the Youth Success Project since 2016 and Because of Ruby’s Love since 2018.
Esohe Uzamere
Esohe Uzamere is a 10th grader at Little Elm High school. She loves tennis, writing, and astronomy. She usually volunteers at her community library and is excited to share her love for literacy in other communities. She's been a part of her student council and is avid in finding ways to help her community as much as she can. She believes that a strong foundation in reading especially sets people up for success, and it's an opportunity everybody deserves. She's delighted to be a part of an organization that gives this chance to as many students as they can!
Josie Figueroa
Josie Figueroa is a junior at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She believes that all students should have equal exposure to a large variety of literacy starting at a young age. Ever since 6th grade she has been doing a variety of community service projects and started working with the Leaders Readers Network in 8th grade. Since her work with LRN started, she has had a variety of roles within the organization such as hosting book drives, book signing events, speaking on a variety of panels, and many many more. When she is not helping this nonprofit she is helping a few other nonprofits, dancing, or in the middle of a good book. She is excited to continue spreading the importance of literacy as she moves into a new town.
Naomi Lewis
Naomi Lewis is a freshman at Wakeland High School. She wants to use the power of literature and knowledge to enrich the lives of children who don’t have access to these resources. As a member of the National Junior Honors Society in her middle school, she donated much of her time to fundraising and volunteering which her passion for helping others. Being involved in many activities and volunteering as a coach in many children’s programs, she knows the need for the Leaders Readers Network’s help in many areas of North Texas.
Heaven Willis
Heaven Willis is an 8th grader at Bg Hudson Middle School in Sachse, TX. She has a strong passion for reading and possesses the mentality of a leader. Her passion for reading started in Pre-K and has since grown tremendously. Heaven’s first act of service was in the 2nd grade. She wanted to do something special for the less fortunate so she made bags filled with notes of love and sandwiches and passed them out during the holidays. Being selected to be a student ambassador has been a major highlight for 2022. Heaven is looking forward to making a major difference throughout classrooms in her school district.
Western Region
Chaitra Sure
Chaitra Sure is an 8th grader at Portola Middle School in West Hills CA. Observing people with a lack of privileges, her interest to help others has grown over the years. She has a great satisfaction in providing literacy, resources, and education for the underserved. Chaitra partakes in Model United Nations and art, while also reading in her free time. As a part of the Leaders Readers Network, she hopes to make a change in the world one book at a time.
Eastern Region
Clementina Jose
Clementina Jose is a rising second-year student at the Hunter Silberman School of Social Work, where she is pursuing a master’s degree in social work with a concentration in clinical practice with families and individuals, at the tender age of 20. Clementina has a deep passion for catering to underserved populations and showing them that it is possible to be a success story in the midst of strife, due to her own experiences. Clementina's short-term goal is to continue to advocate specifically within the K-12 sector, as a Dean of students in the near future. Clementina has worked as an academic specialist, a peer mentor, a teacher's assistant, a program manager assistant, and a resident assistant and has held many other hats throughout her college and graduate school career. Clementina aspires in her later future to become a principal and eventually a superintendent within NYC Public school systems. Her goals as an administrator would be to answer a lot of questions relating to black and brown communities and to also explore and shine a light on other diverse groups. Clementina also is very dedicated to increasing access to culturally-informed mental health care for underserved youth and adolescents, within school systems. Outside of her educational interests, Clementina manages her own podcast, she is also very interested in videography and she loves to dance. Clementina is excited to give back to her community within LRN and develop leadership skills through project development, management, fundraising, and execution.
Offshore
Aliya Francis
Aliya Francis is a senior at Castle Bruce Secondary. From a very young age, she developed a keen interest in reading which has become an essential part of her persona. Being a part of an indigenous community she has always felt the need to give back in whatever way possible. Recently, she has participated in several voluntary projects in her area of residence. Her duty involves giving advice to younger children regarding education, social behaviors, and of course reading to expand their knowledge. Besides that, she enjoys surfing the internet, exploring her country, and hanging out with friends. Currently, her goal is to bring awareness to literacy to ensure that children are treated equally despite their differences. She is excited to embark on this journey which will enhance her leadership skills and assist those in her community and nation through The Leaders Readers Network.
