The Leaders Readers Network’s 2025 Literacy Fellowship Impact Summit Recap
With over 220 educators, we hosted our 4th Annual Literacy Fellowship Impact Summit at the Riverwalk from July 17th through the 19th. We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to celebrate literacy, engage in presentations from numerous amazing educators, and learn from our Keynote Speaker Dr. Katie Egan Cunningham.
“My favorite part about the Literacy Fellowship Impact Summit was seeing everyone come together with a shared purpose—supporting student success. Being surrounded by passionate educators, exchanging ideas, and building meaningful connections was truly inspiring. What I gained from this experience directly influences my second graders. I walked away with fresh strategies and renewed energy that I’m already bringing into my classroom to help my students grow as confident, curious readers. The impact is real—and it starts with moments like these.” — Vanessa Trujillo
“My favorite part about the Literacy Fellowship Impact Summit was getting to see everyone come together for the same purpose, sharing ideas, and making new connections with fellow educators.” — Marisa Antu
At this year’s summit, TLRN was able to set up educators and their classrooms with success by providing brand new books for their classroom libraries, literacy lessons aligned to the science of reading, and back to school book giveaways. Together, we were able to bring our network of educators from across the state to share the joy and science of reading.
“My favorite part of the Literacy Fellowship Summit is that I was able to engage with other teachers, share ideas and help inspire others to participate or continue this amazing journey we are on. I love being able to walk away with books and resources to implement this new school year! — Deborah Castro
“Stepping out of my comfort zone and presenting at the Literacy Fellowship Impact Summit was my favorite part of this year! Growth happens when we share what’s working in our classrooms and learn from others. I’m leaving inspired and ready to take on a new school year with fresh ideas!” — Maria Martinez
Not only did we hear from Dr. Cunningham about specific ways to rethink how we teach reading to align our teaching practices with the science of reading while still prioritizing the joy of learning. We heard from Dr. Michele Haiken about Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and how it is an integral part of education and human development. Utilizing digital resources with purposeful literacy lessons provides opportunities for teachers and students to develop self- awareness, support mindfulness, cope with anxiety and stress, and encourage responsible decision making.
Join us next year and don’t miss out on an amazing opportunity to get BRAND NEW books for your classroom, connect with fellow educators, share evidence based literacy practices, get TLRN swag and much more!
